Many Chinese people dream of national prosperity and a brighter future, but their individual hopes vary greatly. We look now at some of those people, including one woman who proves that dreams can come true.

We asked people from all walks of life what their dreams are. The answers are as diverse as their identities.

Wang Chao, Sichuan Opera Performer, said, "I want to win the plum blossom award, it's the highest award in Chinese theatre for a performer like me."

Dai Piao, Newsstand Owner, said, "My dream is to go on vacation with my family, the pace of life is too fast right now and I just want to catch a break every now and then."

Footage of a regular middle-aged woman has recently become a viral sensation. She voiced her dream to go on the "Avenue of Stars", one of the largest talent shows in China.

Yang Yanli, the performer, said, "I wish good health to all my sisters here. I'm determined to make it to the avenue of stars; nothing can stand in my way!"

To her surprise, the host of the show decided to grant her wish. Bi Fujian, host of "Avenue of Stars", said, "I've seen her footage and I think she's got talent. It's hard for us because we get so many requests to go on our show, but we try our best to give more people opportunities."

Yang was awe-struck when she got the news. "I was shaking from the inside out and could hardly sleep. I can't wait to go on stage and see the audience. Oh what joy!"

Yang's story is bound to encourage more people to boldly pursue their own dreams, no matter how humble their backgrounds.
