CHENGDU, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Romulo scored the winning goal as Chengdu Rongcheng beat Shanghai Shenhua 1-0 at home, leapfrogging its opponent to top the Chinese Super League (CSL) table here on Friday.

Before the headline clash of the 10th round, Shanghai Shenhua had led the table with 23 points with an unbeaten run, three points ahead of second-placed Chengdu.

The home team started strongly as Romulo found the net after a series of scrambles in the box in the 27th minute.

Shanghai Shenhua came close to equalizing in the 71st minute, but Joao Teixeira's free kick hit the post. The Portuguese midfielder was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card, and his team had to swallow its first defeat of the season.

Following the critical win, Chengdu leveled with Shanghai Shenhua on 23 points but with a better goal difference.

On Thursday, China international Lin Liangming contributed one goal and one assist to help Beijing Guoan overturn defending champion Shanghai Port 2-1 at home, remaining unbeaten with 19 points to rank third in the league.

In Zhejiang FC's 4-2 victory over Changchun Yatai, 18-year-old forward Wang Yudong netted twice in the first 30 minutes, becoming the youngest player to score a brace in CSL history.
