Tech conference in Hong Kong highlights innovation, future trends

HONG KONG, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia 2025 Hong Kong Conference kicked off here Friday, focusing on the current state of global technological innovation, key challenges, future trends, and potential risks.

With the theme "Transitioning Towards the Future: Powered by Science, Technology and Innovation", participants will discuss ways to strengthen global tech governance, guide the formulation of new technology regulations, support the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, bridge the digital divide, and foster international cooperation, while proposing solutions.

The conference was jointly hosted by the Boao Forum for Asia and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, with over 800 government officials, representatives from international organizations, entrepreneurs, and experts from more than 20 countries and regions in attendance.

Starting Friday morning, ten sessions of the conference have been held successively, leading up to the plenary forum on Saturday. This year's event highlights the distinct characteristics of the Boao Forum for Asia, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Hong Kong.

Since its launch in 2019, the International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia has held three conferences in Macao, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai, respectively, playing an active role in strengthening international innovation cooperation, advancing the development of technology governance systems, and promoting global sustainable development.
