BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday that the relations between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) should not be affected by any third-party factors, calling for joint effort to promote the growth of China-ROK ties.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks when asked to comment on ROK President Lee Jae-myung's remarks that the ROK should not continue the policy of "security with the United States and economy with China."

Guo noted at a regular press briefing that a sound, stable and deepening China-ROK relationship is in the fundamental interests of the two peoples and conducive to the peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and beyond. "This is the consensus between the two countries," he added.

The two countries grow bilateral relations for their common interests, which does not target any third party and should not be affected by any third-party factors, said Guo.

"China's ROK policy maintains continuity and stability. We hope the ROK will work with China to jointly promote the sustained, sound and steady growth of the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership," Guo said. Enditem
