Typhoon Tapah triggers No. 8 signal in Macao

MACAO, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) issued No. 8 Signal on Sunday evening, bracing for Typhoon Tapah.

Tapah will pass within 150 km southwest of Macao on Monday morning and further strengthen. As it approaches gradually, winds in the city were expected to gradually strengthen, accompanied by frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms.

The SAR's Civil Protection Operations Center declared an "immediate prevention stage," and a yellow storm surge warning had been in effect.
