BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Both the numbers of arrests and prosecutions that China's procuratorates handled fell year on year in the first nine months of 2025, according to data released at a national seminar for senior prosecutors held in Beijing on Friday.
From January to September, prosecutors approved the arrests of approximately 519,600 criminal suspects and filed public prosecutions against 1.05 million people -- respective year-on-year declines of 12.9 percent and 11.7 percent.
Authorities continued to address serious violent crimes, including homicide, robbery and kidnapping, prosecuting 39,800 suspects, which was down 10.8 percent from the year before.
In the area of cybercrime, 136,000 people were prosecuted for internet-related offenses in the three quarters, including 49,000 for telecom and online fraud.
A total of 18,000 individuals were prosecuted for financial fraud or other offenses undermining financial management, while 1,829 were charged with money laundering.
Another 53,000 people were prosecuted for crimes against children, and 69,000 juvenile cases were reviewed -- down 2.1 percent and 9.7 percent year on year, respectively. Enditem
