SHANGHAI, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- A multi-functional cultural space jointly launched by international brand Chanel and the Power Station of Art (PSA), a Shanghai-based museum dedicated to contemporary art, was unveiled in this east China metropolis on Monday.
Enhancing functionalities, the venue, named "Espace Gabrielle Chanel," is a renovation and upgrade of the third floor of the PSA.
The venue is now composed of a library, a theater, a space for exhibitions and a riverside leisure terrace -- thereby integrating humanistic reflection, design exhibitions, pioneering performances and cultural leisure.
Spanning 1,700 square meters, the library hosts a wide range of books, reaching 50,000 volumes of essential reading materials and audiovisual resources featuring art, design, architecture, culture and social sciences. Notably, rich materials on Chinese contemporary art can also be found among them. The library aims to serve both enthusiasts and professionals.
The theater, containing 300 seats, is able to accommodate diverse events -- ranging from video art and theatrical performances to sound experiments and press conferences. Integrated with the exhibition space, it carves out a place for imagination and offers a highly immersive atmosphere for visitors.
Boasting a panoramic view of Shanghai's Huangpu River, the 300-square-meter riverside terrace has both a coffee area and a family-friendly relaxation zone -- providing visitors with a more relaxing and leisurely experience.
"Espace Gabrielle Chanel" is a fruit of the long-term strategic partnership between Chanel and the PSA, which was forged in May 2024. Their collaboration will continue to focus on various pursuits, such as advancing archival development and supporting relevant research efforts. Enditem
