BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Song Tao, Chinese mainland's top Taiwan affairs official, on Thursday said that the mainland will always care about the well-being of Taiwan compatriots, and that it will help them resolve problems and bring them more benefits.
Song, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks when he met with a delegation from Taiwan's fishing sector led by Lin Pin-Kuan, chairman of the Non-Partisan Solidarity Union.
The mainland is ready to create better development opportunities and share more benefits of development with people at the grassroots level in Taiwan, including people engaged in farming and fishing, Song said.
He stressed that the mainland will not tolerate Japan's attempts to meddle in affairs related to Taiwan or interfere in China's internal affairs, and that any such attempt will be dealt a head-on blow.
"Any external interference by Japan or other countries is doomed to fail," he said.
Lin said that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China and are one family. He called on the fishing sector and other industries on both sides to enhance exchange and cooperation and benefit compatriots on both sides. Enditem
