Xinhua president meets with foreign guests attending OANA meeting in China

BOAO, Hainan, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua on Wednesday met separately with heads of media organizations from multiple countries who came to China for the 57th Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).

The media executives included Andrey Kondrashov, director general of Russia's TASS news agency, Nur-ul Afida Binti Kamaludin, CEO of Malaysian National News Agency, and General Director Vu Viet Trang of Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

Extending a warm welcome to the media heads, Fu reviewed the long-standing cooperation between Xinhua and their media organizations, outlined the vision for further deepening media collaboration, and proposed suggestions such as jointly telling stories of cooperation and development, strengthening personnel and professional exchanges, expanding cooperation in the field of new media technology, and enhancing coordination within multilateral frameworks.

He also invited all parties to attend the seventh World Media Summit to be held in Beijing next year.

Kondrashov stated that the strategic cooperation between TASS and Xinhua continues to deepen and advance, achieving tangible results in international communication and information exchange. He sincerely looks forward to the sixth China-Russia Media Forum to be held in Beijing and firmly believes that the forum will be a complete success.

Nur-ul Afida said that Xinhua possesses extensive media experience and expressed the hope to receive relevant training support in the future, while also looking forward to deepening cooperation in the field of video news. She welcomed Xinhua to send journalists to Malaysia to cover the "Visit Malaysia 2026" campaign.

Vu Viet Trang stated that the VNA and Xinhua are important partners, with both sides continuously exchanging various types of news. She expressed the desire to further deepen their cooperation, especially in the field of digital transformation, and mentioned that the VNA is willing to send technical personnel to Xinhua to learn advanced experience.

During their meeting, Fu and Nur-ul Afida exchanged the memorandum of understanding on information communication cooperation signed by both sides. They agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as news exchange, mutual visits, journalist assistance, and collaborative communication to facilitate the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
