SHANGLUO, China, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The International School Sport Federation (ISF) U15 World School Volleyball Championship opened here on Friday, as China boys' A team saw off Chile 2-0 in the opening match.
The host sent a 79-member delegation, including 56 athletes in two boys' teams and two girls' teams, to the event. Thirty teenage volleyball teams from 17 countries and regions are competing at the championship.
At the start of the first set, Chile took a 7-5 lead. Then China boys' A team found its rhythm, turning the match around and winning the set at 25-7.
Even with the host fielding some bench players, China claimed a commanding 25-9 win in the second set.
"We are all the debutants, so we are a little bit nervous in the first set," China boys' A team captain Chen Zehao told Xinhua.
"My goal is to try my best to play in the high-level team. I want to represent China as long as possible," the 15-year-old said.
The championship features boys' and girls' events. The boys' event has 13 teams in four groups, and the girls' event features 17 teams drawn into four groups. Enditem
