BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- China's manufacturing power index has reached the same range as Germany and Japan, placing China in the second tier of global manufacturing powers, according to the 2025 China Manufacturing Power Development Index Report, which was released in Beijing on Tuesday.

The report is compiled annually by the Strategic Consulting Center of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and other agencies, and has been released every year since 2015.

In 2024, China's manufacturing sector advanced steadily under pressure, moving toward innovation and increasing in quality. The report shows that the added value of Chinese manufacturing accounted for 27.71 percent of the world's total in 2024, maintaining the leading global position it has held since it became the world's largest manufacturing economy in 2010.

China's manufacturing sector has consolidated its scale and upgraded across multiple dimensions, including quality, innovation and green development, with its industrial structure accelerating the move toward a high-end, intelligent and green orientation.

China has built the world's largest clean coal power system, and the world's largest and most advanced ultra-high voltage (UHV) alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) power grid, with new energy equipment, energy-saving and energy-storage equipment registering rapid growth, noted Lyu Junfu, an academician of the CAE.

On the basis of maintaining the advantages of large-scale development, China will advance the coordinated, comprehensive improvement of quality and efficiency, as well as its structural optimization, innovative development and capacity for sustainable development, the report said. Enditem
