BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The China Earthquake Administration has activated a Level-III emergency response to a 5.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Zhaotong City in southwest China's Yunnan Province at 7:32 p.m. Monday.
The quake hit Qiaojia County at a depth of 10 kilometers. Strong tremors were felt in several nearby counties, but no casualties have been reported so far.
Working teams have been dispatched to the affected area to support local relief efforts, the administration said.
China has a four-tier emergency response system, with Level I being the most severe response. Enditem
