BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for stronger measures to implement the CPC Central Committee's decisions and arrangements on united front work to ensure a sound start to the country's 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, made the remarks at a conference for leaders of united front work departments across China, which was held on Wednesday in Beijing.

During the meeting, Wang stressed the need to gain a profound understanding of the requirements for the Party's overall leadership -- the centralized, unified leadership of the Party Central Committee, in particular -- over united front work.

He also called for efforts to adhere to the rules, principles and proper methods in united front work to promote high-quality development in relevant fields.

Efforts should also be made to enhance the capacity of united front work to serve the central tasks of the Party and the state, he said.

Wang underscored the importance of efforts to improve China's new type of political party system, forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, and establish a more solid legal footing for the governance of religious affairs. He also noted the need to strengthen united front work for non-CPC intellectuals, people from emerging social groups and those working in private sectors, as well as relevant work related to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese affairs.
