BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- China recalled more than 38 million cars during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) as part of efforts to enhance the country's defective product recall system, the market regulator said on Thursday.

The automobile recalls were issued in 1,074 batches, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation.

A total of 4,190 consumer product recalls involving more than 40.4 million items were conducted over the period, the administration said.

Market regulatory departments have consistently strengthened quality and safety supervision, it noted.

Production license management, for example, has been implemented for 14 categories and 27 types of industrial products. High-risk products such as power banks and electric bicycle helmets have been included under compulsory certification management. A pilot reform of the CCC certification mark, which is a mandatory safety assessment standard, has been applied to three categories and 11 types of high-risk products, including power banks. And a pilot program for coding and verification has been promoted for 10 key products sold online, also including power banks. Enditem
