BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- The evidence of forced conscription of "comfort women" by Japan's militarists is ironclad that brooks no denial, and China is seriously concerned with Japan's erroneous attitude and dishonest practices regarding its history of aggression, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.

A working group on discrimination against women and girls and other special procedures of the UN Human Rights Council recently sent a joint letter to the Japanese government, expressing serious concerns over Japan's failure to ensure access to truth and reparations for "comfort women" survivors.

In response to a related query, spokesperson Lin Jian said that the forced recruitment of "comfort women" was a serious crime of Japanese militarism that severely trampled on the rights of the victims, adding that the evidence of the crime is ironclad and undeniable, and there is strong outrage in the international community over the crime.

He said that certain forces in Japan have long tried to deny or even distort the history of the forced recruitment of "comfort women."

Japan needs to reflect deeply on its history of aggression and the disastrous suffering inflicted on the victims by its crime, handle the issue of "comfort women" and other issues left over from its history properly and with an honest, responsible attitude, and earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community through concrete actions, Lin said.
