BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The global reach of 3x3 basketball continued to expand in 2025, with record media value, broadcast coverage and fan engagement, according to figures released by FIBA on Thursday.

FIBA said the 2025 season featured 17 stops on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, 19 Challenger events and 15 tournaments on the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series. National team events also boosted digital engagement, led by the FIBA 3x3 World Cup, while the inaugural FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup was added to the calendar.

According to FIBA, 3x3 basketball generated an estimated 220 million to 290 million U.S. dollars in total media value for sponsors in 2025, driven by social media exposure, earned media coverage and television visibility.

Broadcast distribution expanded to 234 countries and regions worldwide. Linear television coverage of the 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup increased by 48 percent compared with the 2023 edition, reaching 418 broadcast hours.

"We are immensely proud to be able to reflect on 3x3 basketball's best year so far and hitting unprecedented heights in these key metrics - something that highlights its ever-expanding reach," stated FIBA's 3x3 basketball Managing Director Alex Sanchez.

"This clearly demonstrates how we continue to unlock the incredible potential of 3x3 basketball and deliver against our strategic objective of making 3x3 basketball the most thrilling urban sport in the world," Sanchez added.

FIBA also reported growth across its digital platforms, with the global 3x3 social media community surpassing 10 million followers for the first time, a 20 percent year-on-year increase.

Across all platforms in 2025, 3x3 basketball recorded 1.5 billion impressions, 1.1 billion video views and 118 million engagements. FIBA noted that 70 percent of viewers were aged 13 to 34. Enditem
