TAIYUAN, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Shanxi beat Sichuan 72-70 in Game 2 of the 2025-26 Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league finals on Friday, leveling the finals at 1-1.

Sichuan cruised to a 95-61 victory in the opening game on Tuesday, with an overseas trio combining for 56 points, but Shanxi responded with resilience on its home court.

Shanxi seized the initiative early in Game 2, riding on the strong performance of Shakira Austin, who dominated the first quarter with her scoring and presence in the paint. Sichuan, however, regrouped in the second quarter and overturned the deficit to take the lead before halftime.

The game remained close in the fourth quarter. Shanxi tied the score with 19 seconds left before Sichuan missed two free throws. Zhang Ru then scored on the final possession to secure the victory.

Austin led Shanxi with a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds, delivering a double-double performance.

"We played as a united team, and the final shot came from great teamwork and ball movement," Zhang said after the game.

Game 3 will be held in Shanxi on Sunday. Enditem
