BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.92 percent to 4,169.54 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.26 percent higher at 15,569.91 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 2.89 trillion yuan (about 422.7 billion U.S. dollars), down 7.4 billion yuan from the previous trading day.
Semiconductor, electricity, robot and computing power leasing sectors led the gains, while those related to sports suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.16 percent to close at 3,908.44 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 2.62 percent higher at 2,149.25 points. Enditem
