SINGAPORE, May 30 (Xinhua) -- India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty snapped the 34-match winning streak of South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae to advance to the men's doubles final at the Singapore Open on Saturday.

Kim and Seo, the 2025 world champions and recipients of that year's BWF Male Pair of the Year award, had not lost a match in any competition since October 2025, establishing themselves as the dominant force in men's doubles.

In Saturday's semifinal, the South Korean pair led for much of both games, but Rankireddy and Shetty repeatedly surged ahead at the closing stages. The Indians secured a 21-19, 21-18 victory to book their place in the final, where they will face Indonesia's Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri. The Indonesian pair defeated China's Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang in straight games.

The men's singles semifinals featured a highly anticipated clash between two 21-year-old rising stars. France's Alex Lanier beat Indonesia's Alwi Farhan 21-14, 21-11 to reach his second BWF World Tour Super 750 final, following his run at the 2025 Japan Open. He will face Singapore's Loh Kean Yew in Sunday's final.

China's two women's singles representatives both fell in three-game semifinals. Fourth seed Chen Yufei battled for 83 minutes before losing 22-20, 12-21, 15-21 to top-seeded South Korean An Se-young. Second seed Wang Zhiyi was beaten 13-21, 21-17, 15-21 by Japan's Akane Yamaguchi.

Sunday's final will mark the 33rd career meeting between An and Yamaguchi. An holds a 17-15 advantage in their previous 32 encounters.

China have already secured the women's doubles title. Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning defeated South Korea's experienced pair Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee in straight games, while Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian also advanced with a straight-games victory over Japan's Arisa Igarashi and Chiharu Shida.

The mixed doubles final will feature Denmark's Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje against Japan's Yuichi Shimogami and Sayaka Hobara. Enditem
