Top political advisor calls for high-quality work to serve 15th Five-Year Plan implementation

BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Huning on Wednesday called for high-quality political advisory work to serve the implementation of the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks while addressing the closing meeting of a standing committee session of the CPPCC National Committee.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, China's economic strength, scientific and technological capabilities, and comprehensive national strength have all reached new heights, and Chinese modernization has made new and solid strides forward, Wang said.

He called on political advisors to rally public support, build consensus, pool wisdom, and gather strength for promoting high-quality development and advancing Chinese modernization.

Noting that the 15th Five-Year Plan period marks a crucial stage in the journey toward the basic realization of socialist modernization, Wang urged the CPPCC to keep a firm hold on the theme and top priority of promoting high-quality development, remain committed to facilitating high-quality development through high-standard performance of its functions, and contribute to sustained, sound economic growth and all-round social progress.

Political advisors should focus on major issues such as building a modern industrial system, achieving greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology, fostering a new development pattern, establishing a high-standard socialist market economy, ensuring and improving people's livelihoods, and accelerating the comprehensive transformation towards green economic and social development, Wang said.

They should go to the front lines to get a true picture of the situation, offer well-targeted advice and sound proposals, and strengthen oversight to ensure implementation, he added.

Wang also attended a plenary meeting of the standing committee session of the CPPCC National Committee on Wednesday.
