China vows solid efforts to build unified national market

BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Senior officials from the Chinese government have pledged solid efforts to further advance the development of a unified national market and shore up high-quality development.

These officials, including Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing and representatives from multiple central government ministries and authorities, made the remarks on Wednesday at a meeting held during an ongoing session of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.

Lawmakers at the meeting reviewed a State Council report on progress in building a unified national market, and held a joint inquiry. Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, lawmakers raised questions covering a wide range of key issues, including progress and targets for the building of a unified national market, improvement of the fair competition review system, and solutions to existing bottlenecks.

Addressing the inquiries, Zhang said that notable progress has been achieved in building a unified national market.

He urged the State Council and relevant departments to accelerate the formulation of dedicated regulations for a unified national market, improve supporting mechanisms for statistics, fiscal and taxation policies, as well as performance assessment, and advance market unity in key fields such as technology and data.

Presiding over the meeting, Xiao Jie, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, urged the State Council and relevant departments to earnestly study and handle the opinions and suggestions put forward by lawmakers, and submit a report on the handling results to the NPC Standing Committee in accordance with the law.
