2 villagers killed in mountain flood in north China

HOHHOT, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Two villagers died in a mountain flash flood in Jarud Banner, Tongliao City in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday, according to local authorities.

The flood, triggered by heavy rainfall at around 6 p.m., claimed the lives of the two villagers surnamed Sun and Man, respectively, said the banner's authorities.

Sun drowned while herding cattle, and Man fell into the water accidentally while driving away a herd of cattle and died despite rescue efforts.

The emergency rescue and disaster assessment work for the flood is underway. Enditem
