China's top political advisor meets representatives of overseas Chinese

BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Huning has met with representatives to the 11th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations, which opened in Beijing on Monday.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, welcomed the representatives and extended sincere greetings to overseas Chinese worldwide on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Li Ganjie, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, noted that overseas Chinese, as an important part of the Chinese nation, are crucial participants in advancing Chinese modernization and serve as vital bridges between China and the rest of the world.

Li called on overseas Chinese to actively contribute to the great cause of national rejuvenation, promote the peaceful development of the world, and enhance unity and cooperation among overseas Chinese associations.

The conference serves as an important platform for exchanges and networking among major overseas Chinese associations worldwide. More than 400 leaders of overseas Chinese associations from 140 countries and regions are attending this year's conference. Enditem
