China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty, opposing external interference: spokesperson

BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and opposing external interference, and stands ready to work with the international community to uphold international fairness and justice, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a daily press briefing on Wednesday.

In response to a related query, Lin said that the United States has imposed a comprehensive blockade and illegal sanctions against Cuba for over 60 years, bringing profound disasters to the Cuban people. Recently, the United States has ramped up its blockade and sanctions against Cuba, seriously undermining Cuba's basic livelihoods and drawing high attention from the international community, Lin added.

The U.S. side should listen to the just voices of the international community, immediately stop the blockade and coercion against Cuba, and cease violating Cuban people's right to subsistence and development, Lin said. Enditem
