BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Six rivers in four provincial-level regions across China were experiencing floods above warning levels as of 8 a.m. Thursday, following recent heavy rainfall and upstream inflows, according to the Ministry of Water Resources.
From Wednesday morning to Thursday morning, heavy to torrential rain battered parts of Hebei, Heilongjiang, Hubei and Jiangsu, the ministry said.
Affected by the rainfall and upstream inflows, six rivers in Guangxi, Yunnan, Hebei and Jiangsu rose above warning levels, with the highest water level exceeding the warning limit by 2.87 meters.
The ministry urged local authorities to strengthen flood control measures, with a focus on ensuring the safe operation of reservoirs, guarding against flooding in small and medium-sized rivers, and guarding against mountain flood disasters. Enditem
