TAIYUAN, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 World Snooker Tour China Open on Thursday featured four last-16 matches, with Chinese player Si Jiahui losing 6-2 to Australian star Neil Robertson to miss out on the quarterfinals. England's Stuart Bingham advanced with a 6-0 victory over Iran's Hossein Vafaei.
Si struggled to find his rhythm from the outset, repeatedly missing his chances on long-range shots and surrendering the initiative to his opponent. Robertson remained composed and controlled the match with fluent attacking play, racing into a 4-1 lead.
In the sixth frame, Si produced an excellent snooker that forced Robertson to play defensively. Si then seized the opportunity to score and compile a century break to pull a frame back. Robertson, however, gave his opponent no further chances, winning the next two frames to seal the victory.
"I thought I played very well today. Si is a dangerous opponent, so I needed to keep him under pressure defensively and make the right shots," Robertson said after the match. "That was the key, because I knew it would be dangerous if I gave him any chances."
Bingham and Vafaei were locked in a tight battle from the opening frame, with Bingham edging it 65-57. He gradually found his rhythm thereafter, maintaining control with solid performances in both attack and defense to keep his opponent at bay and eventually complete a 6-0 whitewash.
"I've started very shaky. I missed a lot of chances in the first frame, but fortunately I managed to find my form as the match went on," Bingham said. "Whoever I've got in the next round, it's going to be a tough game, so I need to improve."
In the two evening matches, Mark Selby is facing fellow Englishman Kyren Wilson, while Chris Wakelin taking on Chinese player Zhang Anda. The winners of the two matches would secure places in the quarterfinals. Enditem
