HONG KONG, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) delivered an exceptional first half of 2026, with revenue and profit both reaching new half-year records, Bonnie Chan, HKEX chief executive officer, said in the interim‑results announcement on Wednesday.
In the first six months, HKEX reported total revenue and other income of 16.7 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 2.1 billion U.S. dollars) and profit attributable to shareholders of about 10.6 billion Hong Kong dollars, representing year-on-year increases of 19 percent and 24 percent, respectively, according to the announcement.
Building on the strong momentum achieved in 2025, HKEX entered 2026 with resilience and continued strategic progress, delivering record first-half performance against a backdrop of macroeconomic uncertainty and evolving geopolitical dynamics, HKEX Chairman Carlson Tong said in the announcement.
Supported by a surge in listings from the AI and broader technology, media and telecommunications sectors, the IPO market in Hong Kong remained buoyant in the reporting period. In the first half, there were 87 new listings, raising a total of 212.4 billion Hong Kong dollars, up 94 percent from a year earlier. Enditem
