HONG KONG, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's flagship airline Cathay Pacific announced on Thursday that it will launch direct flights between China's Hong Kong and Almaty, Kazakhstan, starting Jan. 9, 2027.
According to Cathay, Almaty marks its first-ever destination in Central Asia. The airline plans to operate three flights a week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, offering the only direct air link between Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.
The airline noted that Almaty serves as an important gateway to Central Asia for trade, business, and tourism, adding that the new route will reinforce Hong Kong's position as a global aviation hub and boost connectivity along the Belt and Road. Enditem
