Team China shines bright at badminton World Championships

NEW DELHI, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Team China delivered another dazzling performance at the BWF World Championships on Friday, with Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang storming past home favorites Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty to guarantee a men's doubles final berth.

In the women's singles, third-seeded Wang Zhiyi eased past Denmark's Line Christophersen 21-10, 21-7 to reach her first World Championships semifinal. Wang, who survived an 88-minute thriller against India's P.V. Sindhu in the round of 16, will next face top seed An Se-young of South Korea for a place in the final.

Wang's compatriot Han Yue exited after a 21-19, 21-12 defeat to top seed An.

In the men's doubles, third seeds Liang and Wang Chang delivered a commanding performance to see off India's fifth seeds Rankireddy and Shetty 21-18, 21-9, sealing China's first men's doubles medal at this edition.

In the women's doubles, top seeds and defending champions Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning eased past Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam of Hong Kong, China, 21-14, 21-17 to reach the last four.

Eighth seeds Li Yijing and Luo Xumin reached their first World Championships semifinal by winning against an Indonesian pair.

In the mixed doubles, top seeds Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping fought back from one game down to beat compatriots Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi in three games, while second seeds Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin sealed a 21-13, 21-17 win over fellow Chinese pair Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui. Enditem
