GUIYANG, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Hungary's Blanka Guzi won the women's title at the 2026 Modern Pentathlon World Championships on Sunday evening in Guiyang, southwest China's Guizhou Province.
The 27-year-old Guzi, ranked world No. 1, finished with 1,485 points to take gold. Egypt's Farida Khalil won silver with 1,474 points, while Britain's Bryson Kerenza took bronze with 1,464.
"I'm unbelievably proud of myself and of my team and my staff. I'm really thankful to end this amazing year with such an amazing result," Guzi said.
"Claiming gold in women's final is like a dream come true. It's a gift to me. There are years of work to achieve this," she added.
"Next year will be a tough year. The qualification of the Olympics will start. The main goal will be achieving this. I would like to get my qualification," Guzi explained.
The 2026 World Championships were held in Guiyang from Aug. 24 to 30, with more than 500 athletes from over 50 countries and regions participating. Enditem
