2026 Yidan Prize laureates announced in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Yidan Prize Foundation on Wednesday announced its 2026 laureates in Hong Kong, honoring four scholars across education research and education development.

Paul Glewwe of the University of Minnesota was honored with the Yidan Prize for Education Research for breaking barriers to learning through shaping effective policies and interventions, unleashing the potential of children in vulnerable communities and unlocking a healthier, more prosperous future.

Susan P. Walker and Susan M. Chang-Lopez of the University of the West Indies, alongside Sally Grantham-McGregor of University College London, were named laureates of the Yidan Prize for Education Development, honoring their development of an evidence-based early childhood model that transforms children's development and life trajectories in low-resource, displaced, and indigenous communities.

Chen Yidan, founder of the Yidan Prize, said that over the past decade, the collective impact of the laureates has made the award a lighthouse illuminating the path forward for global education, with each recipient introducing transformative ideas that expand the ways to shape the future of education.

Founded in 2016, the Yidan Prize is intended to help create a better world through education.
