BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.2 percent to 3,940.55 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.52 percent lower at 13,703.21 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices stood at around 1.98 trillion yuan (about 292 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.95 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Agriculture, oil and gas, and coal stocks were among the biggest winners, while sectors of semiconductor chips and consumer electronics posted losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.15 percent to close at 3,359.72 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, opened 0.08 percent lower at 1,899.32 points. Enditem
