BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese military official Zhang Shengmin on Thursday called for comprehensive enhancement of military ties between China and Indonesia.
Zhang, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks when meeting with Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who is in Beijing for the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
Security cooperation is an important manifestation of the high-level strategic mutual trust between the two countries, Zhang noted.
He called on the two militaries to firmly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen strategic communication, enhance exchanges and interactions at all levels, contribute to building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, and make greater contributions to safeguarding world peace and regional stability.
Sjafrie said Indonesia stands ready to work with China in maintaining the positive momentum in the development of bilateral and military relations, and yielding more fruitful results through practical exchanges and cooperation.
China and Indonesia have maintained a comprehensive strategic partnership since October 2013.
Themed "Build Consensus on Stability, Advance Security Governance Together," this year's Beijing Xiangshan Forum drew nearly 2,000 official representatives, scholars and observers from more than 100 countries, regions and international organizations.
