Keeping Qiang culture alive

A 71-year-old embroiderer of Qiang ethnic group weaves a waistband on her loom in Jina village in Beichuan County, Southwest China's Sichuan province, May 13, 2010. To keep the Qiang ethnic group's intangible culture alive after the 8.0-magnitude earthquake two years ago, the villagers set up embroidery training classes and made sure they passed their handiwork skills down the family line. Like other Qiang women, the woman was taught embroidery by her mother and since the age of four or five she has practiced it, decorating every piece of her family's cloth house wares. [Photo/Xinhua]
