Traffic controls around venues
Adjust font size:

Traffic will be restricted in areas around Olympic venues on the days they host the events.

The control measures, which will generally be in effect up until Aug 24, will normally stretch from two hours before the event to one hour after it.

Watch out for traffic restrictions around the following venues:

Chaoyang Park, Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium and Beijing Workers' Stadium in Chaoyang district.

Beijing Wukesong Culture and Sports Center, Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium, Capital Indoor Stadium, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Gymnasium, Peking University Gymnasium, China Agricultural University Gymnasium, Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium and Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium in Haidian district.

Beijing shooting range clay target field and Beijing shooting range hall.

The restrictions around the Workers' Stadium will be lifted after Aug 24 while those around the Fengtai Sports Center Softball Field will continue till Aug 21. The traffic restrictions around the Shunyi Olympic rowing-canoeing park will continue till Aug 23.

As part of these temporary traffic control measures, movement of those without passes or tickets to the events will be restricted.

The Beijing traffic management bureau has advised spectators not to drive to stadiums as they don't have parking lots, and would do better to use public transport.

Those heading for the airport can go from Yaojiayuan Road or Pingfangqiao on East Fifth Ring Road to the second airport highway to reach Terminal 3.

Several lantern exhibitions are being organized around the city for the Games, and transport authorities have advised people not to rush to see them, as they will be around for some time.
