Six people were confirmed dead and four others seriously injured after a collision involving a car and a passenger bus in this capital of east China's Jiangsu Province on Wednesday morning.

The collision happened at about 9:40 AM at a highway crossway in Jiangning district to the eastern outskirt of Nanjing.

Three of the fatalities were from the 35-seat bus, which was carrying 33 people on board.

The four injured were still in hospital for treatment.

An investigation is under way.
