Nine people were killed and four others injured when a motorcycle collided with a minibus on a highway in east China's Jiangxi Province early Tuesday, the local government said.

The accident happened at 1:46 am in Yichun City, on state highway 320 that links Shanghai with the China-Myanmar border in the southwestern Yunnan Province.

The four injured, including two children, were out of danger, a Yichun city government spokesman said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known, said Shu Xiaoqin, head of the Jiangxi Provincial Public Security Department.
