A man in his 20s jumped onto the tracks of the No. 1 Line subway in Beijing Friday morning and died on the spot, said the Beijing Subway Company.

The man jumped off the platform at the Nanlishilu Station at 8:25 a.m. and was killed immediately by a train, a spokesman from the company said.

The accident during the morning rush hour caused the No. 1 Line subway to suspend operation. Traffic was also disrupted on five other lines.

The No. 1 line resumed operation 35 minutes after the accident.
