Top 9: Yang Yuying, China’s first generation of major signings

 
 
The first 8 singers all become famous before or during the 1980s. In 1990, mainland’s first group of singers signed major contracts. Yang Yuying, who signed with the Guangzhou musical company was one of this first generation of local artistes. Although she no longer performs, she retains her place in the heart of Chinese pop music fans.

30 years of reform and opening up helped China's pop music to mature. With so many singing styles, Chinese pop music calls for genuine power from all its singers. The public were deeply moved by Han Hong’s self-penned songs such as “Dawn”, “That Sea” and “Beauty in the Wind”. Young singing groups also emerged. They have witnessed 30 years of great change since China's reform and opening-up. Chinese pop music's development and progress is a symbol of the entire country’s development and progress.
