Shandong Province held a "Shandong Week" in Hong Kong last week to improve ties and seek new cooperation with the special administrative region in economics, trade and cultural exchanges.

The start of the new Five-Year Plan period, as well as national programs to build the Blue Economic Zone on the Shandong peninsula and an ecological economic zone in the Yellow River Delta are to bring new opportunities for cooperation between the regions.

High-level roundtable meetings introduced Shandong's current Five-Year Plan to prospective investors in advanced manufacturing, modern services and city development. Jiang Yikang, provincial Party secretary, also met with Hong Kong government officials and heads of large corporations.

There were also six conferences for cooperation negotiations in different fields, including the service industry, advanced manufacturing and tourism.

Shandong has hosted "Shandong Week" in Hong Kong annually since 2009.
