The "most beautiful woman" Diao Na in Yantai, Shandong province, saved another woman's life at the cost of losing her own leg recently and moved thousands of netizens. Her action becomes all the more important after the recent Yue Yue incident in Foshan, Guangdong province, says an article on xinhuanet.com. Excerpts:

The reason netizens have termed Diao Na "the most beautiful woman" is not her good looks but her beautiful heart.

In contrast, the response of passers-by to Yue Yue who was hit twice by vehicles on a road in Foshan set a bad social example. Two-year-old Yue Yue was ultimately helped by a refuse collector who managed to take her to a hospital, only to see her die of her injuries later.

Diao Na, a 24-year-old tourism manager, has proved that altruism is far from dead by coming to the aid of another woman who had been hit by a car and lay bleeding on a busy road in Yantai in the evening.

Diao has said that she was with her husband in their car when she saw 29-year-old Wang Yuanyuan lying on the road and asked him to stop the vehicle. The couple rang the hotlines for help and rushed out of their car to prevent Wang from being hit by another vehicle.

Though husband and wife kept waving at the oncoming vehicles to keep away, Diao was hit by a fast-moving car. Diao and Wang were later transported in an ambulance to a hospital, where the good Samaritan is recovering from a surgery.

Diao has said she hopes her action will prevent "tragedies like Yue Yue's". In today's society, everyone cannot be expected to be a "living Lei Feng", but one should always come to the aid of people in need.
