Insignia for Serfs Emancipation Day

Photo taken on March 24, 2009 shows the insignia marking the 50th anniversary of the democratic reform of Tibet. The insignia's design features a hada, a long piece of silk used as a greeting gift among people of the Tibetan ethnic group, the image of a snow lotus, a rare herb that only grows on high mountains in west China. This insignia also includes China's five-star, red national flag and the sun.
