More and more volunteer rescuers going to disaster areas
Adjust font size:

Public response to the quake is on the rise. More and more volunteer rescuers are going to the disaster areas.

This team of volunteers is kept busy in Mianzhu county in Sichuan province.

They've been rescuing the injured around the clock since Tuesday. They came to help without knowing what conditions awaited them.

A volunteer said, "I put a proposal on my car, calling on the people to come to the disaster area. Many have responded, including business people. Even now we don't know each others' names."

Though conditions are still not safe, more and more volunteers are coming to help. They bring food, water and whatever other supplies they can buy. They drive different types of cars, but all bear the same "rescue" logo. And they all have the same wish: to do whatever they can for the survivors.
