After preliminary treatment in the ambulance, Lai Yuanping was taken to a hospital ward at half past seven on Wednesday evening.

He was in critical condition. After an echocardiogram, he was moved to the CT room.

The hospital's vice director said Lai Yuanping had injuries to his wrists, his elbows, and his back.

A CT scan revealed a hematoma inside his head. It was removed after a 100-minute surgery that concluded at the stroke of midnight. Hospital officials say he is now in an observation room for further treatment.
