24 towns are still difficult to access due to the damage of the roadway. Transport agency is busy drafting plans to cope with the situation.

Guangyuan city is one of the worst-hit areas during the earthquake. Over 4,000 kilometers of roads have been destroyed. Around 300 bridges and 26 tunnels are disrupted more or less.

In Mianyang, situation is alike. More than 4 thousand kilometers of transportation basic facilities are collapsed and over 100 bridges are damaged.

At a river crossroad in Qingchuan county, a barrier lake holding more than 10 million cubic meters of water is formed after the quake. It has caused the pathways to three townships flooded. Transport authority is currently drafting a plan for road reconstruction work.

Gao Feng, dorector of Sichuan Provincial Transport Admin., said, "The current work is to rush to repair the roads. And keep the roads unblocked. Meanwhile, related sections should be prepared to reconstruct the roads in any time due to the potential aftershocks and rain."

Trafic to 24 townships around Sichuan are still in trouble. Dammed lakes are the major barrier to the reconstruction of the roads. Transport authorities are taking the measure of lining selected spots to entire areas to ensure roads to be cleared as soon as possible.
