Children: Back to school, but far from home

Students in earthquake-affected regions are ready to go back to school. But many of them no longer have schools to return to. Some students are travelling far from their hometowns to resume their studies in other provinces.

These 106 students are from Mianzhu, one of the worst-hit regions of Sichuan province. The students are from 5 to 14 years of age. They have been welcomed by a school in eastern China's Jiangsu Province - many miles from home.

Although they are happy to go back to school, some of them are anxious about being separated from their parents. The school is comforting their worried parents. Everything is ready at school. Don't worry!

It's the first time most of the children have been on a plane, and many of them are nervous. Airline staff do their best to make the young passengers comfortable.

After a two-hour flight, the children arrive at Wuxi city in Jiangsu province.

They will complete their school studies here, and some of them will also attend university in their new home away from home.
