Kunqu, Dong Songs Highlight Tokyo Show

A special performance featuring Chinese intangible cultural heritages were performed on Thursday night at the opening ceremony of the China-Japan Culture and Sports Exchange Year in Tokyo.

The performance includes Kunqu opera and grand songs of the Dong ethnic minority group.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the opening ceremony and enjoyed the marvelous performance.

The famous Kunqu opera The Peony Pavilion was performed by artists from China's Jiangsu Kunqu Theater at the opening ceremony of the China-Japan Culture and Sports Exchange Year in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, April 12, 2007.

Women of the Dong ethnic minority group from China's southwestern Guizhou province performed grand songs at the opening ceremony of the China-Japan Culture and Sports Exchange Year in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, April 12, 2007.
