Adjust font size:

The Chinese musical Butterfly will debut at the Yulan Theatre in Dongguan in southern Guangdong Province later this month, in conjunction with the opening of the city's first International Musical Festival.

China National Radio reports the musical is mainly co-created by the cultural department of the city and Songlei Movie and TV Cultural Communications Co., Ltd. in Beijing. The whole preparation for the performance costs 60 million yuan (US$8 million).

Butterfly will bring to the world the Chinese musical, says Wang Daoping, director of the publicity department of the Dongguan Committee of CPC.

During the festival, which will last until the end of this year, audiences will be able to appreciate classics like the French music and dance theatre show World of the Doll and a multi-media musical about Chinese actress and singer, Zhou Xuan, before the founding of the People's Republic of China.
