Adjust font size:

Hundreds of artists jointly painted a fan in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, to celebrate the opening of an art festival featuring the Lingnan style of painting on Sunday.

The Information Times reported that the painting was completed on a huge fan which was five meters high and 9.5 meters wide. It was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest fan painting in existence.

The Lingnan style of painting originated in the nineteenth century in Guangzhou, which was called Lingnan at the time. This school of painting promoted the combination of Chinese traditional painting with elements of Western and Japanese realism.

The first Lingnan Art Festival will last until December 2, and will be held every three years in the future.
