Jet Li celebrates his charity efforts
Adjust font size:

Using his star power and influence as a celebrity, Jet Li has attracted more celebrities and entrepreneurs to join in his circle. Today, 50 experts, ranging from business magnates to academies to media and showbiz celebrities, have all agreed to support Jet Li’s charity efforts. These men and women vowed that by investing their time, professional knowledge, wisdom and influence, they would donate at least "1 hour" each month to the foundation and affiliated charities.

The foundation's executive chairwoman Zhou Weiyan also unveiled new plans for the upcoming year, including collaborating with international charity foundations and NGOs, setting up charity awards and a charity forum.

This above information came from the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia that opened on April 11, 2008 in China's Hainan Province. At the press conference, the forum and Jet Li's One Foundation co-announced the establishment of an International Philanthropy Forum. The forum will be held annually in Beijing in December.

The International Philanthropy Forum will create a platform for dialogue among Chinese NGOs, mainstream international NGOs and grassroots organizations. The establishment of the forum ends the absence of Chinese NGOs complying with international standards.

Only one year ago, Jet Li stood alone preaching his ideals at the launch ceremony. Now the foundation has a professional team of 13 staff members. Jet Li said he would do more than speak out in the new year. Regarding the Olympics, he urged Beijing citizens to practice at least one useful thing each day in order to help others and the host city, in order to create positive change.
